Studying the composition of alkanes, alkenes and alkynes using IR spectroscopy

Abstract: In the current paper we characterize a number of compounds, octane, 1-octene and 1hexyne, from their IR spectroscopic data. The octane spectra were between the wave numbers 2971 cm-1 and 728 cm-1, and 1-octene spectra were between the wave numbers 3093 cm-1 and 917 cm-1, while 1-hexyne spectra are in the range of 3324 cm-1 and 636 cm-1.
