Expediting Drug Discovery: The Role of Modern Synthetic Methodologies in Accessing Diverse Functionalized Heterocycles
Author(s): Manish Mahajan
Abstract: In medicinal chemistry, new advancements in synthetic methods that enable quick access to a variety of functionalized heterocyclic molecules are crucial. They make it possible to expand the range of drug-associated chemical space that is available and improve drug delivery effectiveness. Furthermore, the rate of medication manufacture can be increased by developing more reliable synthetic methods that can raise the yield of the medicine. The most important impact on the pharmaceutical sector is being caused by the development of heterocyclic synthesis processes that allow for a variety of bond formation tactics, even if researchers and manufacturers still use conventional synthetic approaches in drug discovery programs. This review focuses on the use of various novel techniques for the functionalization and synthesis of heterocycles that helped with project delivery, including hydrogen borrowing catalysis, photo-redox chemistry, regio- and stereo-selective synthesis, and multi-component reactions.
